Recommendations for the implementation of a digital preservation policy at the Federal University of Amazonas

Abstract

This article presents recommendations for implementing a digital preservation policy at the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM). The study was motivated by the growing production of digital archival documents at the institution, and the lack of a formal institutional policy for their long-term preservation. The methodology is characterized as qualitative, exploratory and descriptive with the use of semi-structured interviews and SWOT analysis, in order to identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats relating to digital preservation at UFAM. Based on the results obtained, recommendations are proposed for the development of a digital preservation policy, aligned with national and international guidelines.
